Before You Travel

 Guest information 

CONTACT: For up to date information on barge location, timing your visit, and the best travel and train options please contact Bruce or Dave.

DRESS: Informal. Travel light, soft luggage recommended: limited storage on board – slacks, shorts, sweater, rain gear, non-slip deck shoes, sun hat and sun lotion. Small binoculars prove very useful. Clean towels, bedding etc. are provided for incoming guests.

CASH: bring cash in Euros. Bank machines are common and accept Canadian bank cards. Credit cards are often not accepted in small towns and villages. Cash is king.

EXPENSES: Guests share household expenses such as food and wine, laundry, mooring costs, etc. All on board, including Captain, contribute to a household fund administered by Chancellor of the Exchequer (Guest by Appointment).


DUTIES: Guests, Captain and crew all pitch in with duties including provisioning, meal preparation and housekeeping.  The Captain and crew are mainly responsible for operating the barge.  The guests are primarily responsible for meal preparation and housekeeping.
